Putterhead -- noun (2008): An individual of very unique athletic ability who spends countless, sometimes mind-numbing, hours using special clubs and other golf toys for which he or she has invested handsomely endeavoring to put a little white (or yellow, orange or hot pink) ball into 18 four and a quarter inch wide holes dug into the ground with as few strokes as possible. However, Putterheads have been known to swing far more often than is required in order to get their money's worth from the round. Putterheads love the game of golf, use any excuse to get out on a golf course, play in all types of weather (within reason), and keep coming back no matter how many shots they take, traps they are in, woods they have to hike through, water hazards they fail to clear, or balls they lose as long as they hit just one good shot the entire day.

Sounds like us, huh? Tiger's a Putterhead. Joe the Plumber's a Putterhead (or is that "Plumberhead?"). We're all "Putterheads" whether we play once a week, once a month, or play on the professional golf tour (which isn't us but might be you!). Man, we really do love this game no matter how nuts it sometimes drives us. But, if we just hit that one nice drive straight down the middle of the fairway, drop that one 160-yard approach softly onto the green, pop that one chip over the sand close to the pin, or sink that one long curvy putt, that's the stuff that brings us back and makes us bonafide, official, no-kidding Putterheads.
